Sovereign Hydrogen: The Next Frontier for Island Energy

December 26, 2025

Green hydrogen is often discussed as a solution for heavy industry, but its most immediate impact may be in sovereign island energy security. For territories like Bermuda, the ability to store surplus solar energy in chemical form—hydrogen—provides a seasonal buffer that traditional lithium-ion batteries cannot match.

We are currently modeling electrolysis integration for several coastal projects where ‘Zero Export’ mandates are in place. By converting clipped solar energy into hydrogen, we create a zero-carbon backup fuel for critical desalination and medical facilities.

The cost curve for PEM electrolyzers is mimicking the early days of solar PV; early adopters will secure the most resilient infrastructure foundations.
